Our Home Now and Future Plans
Above is our Thai home view. We started to clean-up around the house the day after I made this panoramic view photo. Right now Pet and I are contemplating projects and appliances to improve the house and our way to live more comfortable. Inside painting is already planned after rainy season. Previously, we wanted to add additional room on the backside to be used for storage, laundry room, outdoor toilet. Now, the topic of discussion is to put in our own WATER Well, pump, storage, and filter system. The village has had problems with their system; first quality of water drilled; and the Tower Tank which the government provided long ago. This tank they believe has deteriorated inside, possible corrosion, and they are scared to climb and get inside the tank for inspection or repairs.
Most residents collect rain water for drinking purposes, we buy our water. But we do use the village water for showering, laundry, and general cleaning inside and outside. We just paid our water bill of 220 baht or $7.09 Talking about utilities, our garbage is 15 baht or 50 cents, yes that is right $0.50 and they pickup once a week. Electricity I can not give you a good rate right now since we are running one Air Conditioner all day either living area daytime and bedroom nighttime. Last month for our Security lights cost us 440 baht or $14.20 and that was a good average when we are home in the USA.
New appliances maybe Refrigerator. We checked on a new Stove/Oven yesterday. They would have to order and we don't think it would fit the location. Our current stove/oven combination is a 3 burner top and sufficient, but the oven we just can not deal with very well. Maintaining temperature and lit is the issue besides oven door leaks. I have been using a Counter-top style oven, much like a microwave oven (small). I have found a large counter-top oven which should satisfy our needs. Still using TV antenna and one 32" HD TV, don't need any changes here until we get CABLE..yeah right, years away.
Time to go downtown.
It's My Time!
